Common questions

Frequently asked questions.

Answers to the questions we hear most often. If yours isn't here, email us — we reply within one business day or sooner.

We handle personal T1 returns, corporate T2 returns, CRA compliance (notices, reassessments, HST elections), and year-round tax planning. Every return is prepared with care and reviewed by a CPA before filing.
Personal T1 returns are due April 30 (June 15 for self-employed, but any balance owing is still due April 30). Corporate T2 returns are due six months after your fiscal year end. We track all deadlines for you and reach out well in advance.
Pricing depends on the complexity of your return — a straightforward T1 costs less than a corporate T2 with multiple schedules. After you fill out our intake form, we review your situation and send a fee estimate within one business day or sooner. No surprises.
It's quick, and you don't need any documents yet. If you're filing a personal return, head to our Personal Tax page and run through a short five-minute discovery checklist — tick what applies to your year and we'll review it and reach out within one business day or sooner. Businesses and corporations start from the Corporate Tax page with a brief onboarding that captures the essentials. Not ready to commit? You can always just contact us first and talk it through — no questionnaire required.
No. Our tax practice operates independently — you can use us for tax only. That said, clients who also use our bookkeeping service benefit from seamless year-end preparation since we already have clean books to work from.
Our stack is roughly 80% Canadian, 20% American — all of it North American. Where it matters most, we go Canadian-first: anything that stores your tax returns, financial records, or personal information lives on Canadian-resident infrastructure. American tools we do use (domain hosting, business email) never hold your records.
Yes. We handle CRA correspondence, notices of assessment, reassessments, and voluntary disclosures. If you have received a letter from CRA and are not sure what to do, get in touch and we will review it.
That is more common than you think. We can prepare and file late returns, and in many cases apply to CRA's Voluntary Disclosures Program to reduce or eliminate penalties. No judgement — we just get you current.
Yes. We work with you throughout the year to minimize your tax burden — salary vs. dividend optimization, RRSP timing, income splitting where allowed, and small business deduction planning. Tax season should not be the first time you think about taxes.
